Moose On The Loose |
||
|
Anchorage - capital city of Alaska is the wildest city on earth thanks to its dramatic wildlife. Alongside 260,000 people live up to 1000 moose, 200 black bears and grizzlies, along with large numbers of beavers, ravens, and eagles. Managing this urban menagerie is all in a day's work for Fish and Wildlife rangers Rick and Jesse. Moose with taste for pumpkin terrorize kids during Halloween, and endlessly lose their calves in spring, whilst the summer salmon run lures dozens of grizzlies into the more upmarket neighbourhoods, whilst black bears become addicted to rubbish. For Rick there's more at stake than day to day animal management - he believes that people and large dangerous animals can live in one city and through his groundbreaking project he's determined to prove it. Honourable Mention for Ecological Presentation; Honourable Mention for Fitting Theme - Demonstrating Human-Wildlife Conflict
